µ Keeping our Children Safe – I’m a mother and protecting our children is important to me. From drug awareness to cyber bullying, from Internet safety to sidewalks for safe passage and much more, I will be involved and informed. As a founding member of the City’s S.P.A.R.K (Students and Parents Against Risks to our Kids) task force, I will continue to work diligently to bring excellent programs to and provide resources for our residents on a vast number of issues affecting the safety of our children.
µ The Right Growth - I will work to ensure that the City grows in the right way…low to medium density residential and encourage commercial and business growth, to enrich our tax base and offload some of the burden from the residents. I will insist that the strong, high quality development standards which have ensured our award winning model, are complied with in all new development.
µ Leisure Parks – I will champion the development of unused park land into leisure parks, to be used for walking, relaxing and enjoying nature. I will ensure the maintenance and enhancement of our new Bob Jones Nature Center, and the rollout of planned programs for that park. I will also ensure the maintenance of the sports related parks which serve many of our residents as well. I support our current Council’s efforts to “Connect Southlake” through the improvements to our sidewalks and trails.
µ Protecting our Environment – I will focus on issues such as oil and gas drilling controls, the improvement of our park lands for both leisure and sports use, and the need to preserve our precious resources by encouraging “green” living throughout our City.
µ Go Green! –I will encourage City wide programs designed to increase our residents awareness of recycling, environmentally friendly practices and going green!

µ Keeping Our Children Safe - I am passionate about working to keep our children safe and work tirelessly as a founding member of the City of Southlake’s S.P.A.R.K. (Students and Parents Against Risks to our Kids) task force. Our goal is to bring information and resources to our parents and students. In just the few short months since the task force was formed, I’ve participated in the creation of a curfew ordinance, a sexual predator ordinance and the first information seminar presented community-wide on internet safety. I play an active role on the task force and will continue to drive our focus to better our community for our children. I will continue to work diligently to bring excellent programs to and provide resources for our residents on a vast number of issues affecting the safety of our children. From drug awareness to cyber bullying, from internet safety to sidewalks for safe passage and much more, I will remain involved and informed.
µ High Quality, Low to Medium Density Residential - I am your advocate, staying on top of new development and ensuring the unique, high quality, low and medium density environment we enjoy continues to thrive. I recently spearheaded a successful campaign to suppress the proposed high density Continental Greens development. Careful research and the ability to educate and inform my neighbors and other Southlake residents ultimately led to the clarification of the City’s zoning ordinance for Transition properties. This revision will deter other developers from proposing plans for high density housing within our City adjacent to other residential areas. I remain passionate about the need to carefully grow Southlake!
µ Choice Commercial and Office Development - Equally important to the City’s growth is the careful introduction of commercial development. We need to welcome and encourage businesses which enhance our lifestyle and enrich our tax base, offloading some of the tax burden from the residents. Equally important in the analysis is the likelihood of the business thriving in Southlake, to ensure a steady tax flow and reduce the chance of building vacancy.
µ Leisure Parks - The City Staff and City Council have done an excellent job providing parks for leisure time as well as sports enjoyment. The new Nature Center, quiet reflection spots, historical highlights and sports facilities serve a large majority of our residents. It is important to me that we meet the needs of all our citizens and continue to care for and improve our park lands. I will work to ensure the inclusion of green space/park facilities in every development forthcoming, particularly, the large projects on the board at this time. I will push for the development of parks on land currently owned by the City and will look to the Energy and Development community to assist in the delivery of these parks as they work within our City. There is an equal desire for passive enjoyment in our City as there is for active enjoyment of our parks system.
µ Protecting Our Environment - Protecting our Environment is critically important to me. Oil and Gas drilling will be an area of key focus of City Council in the coming years. I have been carefully following developments in surrounding cities, and have spoken with many of you about your concerns regarding this issue. I will work diligently to ensure the quality of life is maintained while the rights of landowners are protected. City Council is currently working on revising the ordinance which controls the drilling process and protecting our environment is of utmost importance. I will look to enforce the careful requirements created in the revised ordinance, maintaining a balance between allowing the rights of landowners while protecting the land and environment of our City. It is expected that the City will enter into some arrangement with the Energy industry regarding City land. I will vote to have revenue from such arrangement flow into the expansion of our parks system, using the resources to better our natural environment.
µ Go Green! In addition, I applaud the City’s goal to go “green” and will work to encourage the responsible use of resources throughout our City, and to assist in the education and implementation of programs for our residents.
